Guests often praise

Worth knowing

About this property

Welcome to Playacar Palace® All Inclusive Resort

Playacar Palace® All Inclusive Resort is a casual beachside retreat located in the affluent residential area of Playa del Carmen, just steps from the bustling 5th Avenue. The resort offers airy accommodations featuring in-room whirlpool tubs and a range of amenities including free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, outdoor pool, hot tub, and beach access. It is smoke-free and all-inclusive options are available, though guests should note that breakfast and airport shuttle services are not provided.

The property’s intimate size contributes to a relaxed atmosphere, allowing for easier movement around the grounds compared to larger resorts. While the beach directly adjacent to the hotel is relatively small and sometimes affected by water levels, a short walk across the street reveals a more spacious beach area praised by many guests. Pools are well maintained but on the modest side, with a swim-up bar and regular poolside activities enhancing the experience.

Guest reviews often highlight the attentive and friendly staff as a standout feature, with particular praise for personalized service and helpfulness in accommodating special needs such as dietary restrictions. The resort’s location is ideal for exploring Playa del Carmen’s vibrant urban core, offering proximity to shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions like the nearby Xaman-Ha Mayan ruins.

Those seeking adventure and nature experiences will find several popular parks within reach, including Xcaret Park and Xplor Park, known for snorkeling, zip-lining, and eco-tourism activities. The resort is also conveniently accessible from Cancun International Airport within an hour by car.

Playacar Palace® All Inclusive Resort best suits visitors looking for a boutique-style setting that combines a laid-back beach vibe with easy access to city life and family-friendly entertainment. While some guests note limitations such as smaller room sizes and the dimensions of the beach, the overall balance of location, service, and amenities appeals to couples and families comfortable with a more casual, less isolated resort experience.

Great trip, been there many times. The service, food and whole experience this time was what we have come to expect from Palace Resorts. I do think the food at of the Palace Resorts has improved over the last few years and as a chef, I think it is excellent. A couple for special shout outs for above and beyond service. Dolce in the spa was awesome, got the haircut I've been trying to get for a few years, absolutely correct on her first attempt. Very nice, very friendly, and very talented! On the beach/pool service Sylvia was fabulous! We loved her! Also, I need to give a shout out to Karen, who is in customer service and advocated for us for a correction in a minor error with our reservation, which Palace Resorts came through very well fixing the minor issue. Overall, I highly recommend!

Wonderful resort, location, staff, food, and rooms, would recommend to anyone without hesitation. My wife and I had a great time relaxing by the pool or by the ocean on the plentiful recliners, while the kids really enjoyed the activities and being able to sneak up to the coffee shop for sweets whenever they wanted! Beautiful, clean grounds, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and fun! I liked that it was smaller than other resorts I have stayed at and felt far more relaxed than others. Special shout out to the staff at the pool bar and grill who were hustling all day and to Sebastian, the resort photographer who gave us the best (and most fun) family photos we have had in 25 years together. We have already booked our stay for next year!

After booking this resort, I’ll admit I was extremely nervous. I deep-dived into the reviews and got worried about the beach and some people’s negative experiences. But I have to say—the hotel truly exceeded our expectations. Yes, the beach directly by the hotel is very small, and the water comes right up to it. However, if you walk literally two minutes (if that), right across the way there’s a really nice small beach area where you can relax and play. It was perfect for our family’s needs and absolutely beautiful. I also loved that you could sit on a sun chair near the water without sitting directly in the sand—perfect for anyone who hates the sensory overload of sand. The rooms are on the smaller side, and the beds are quite small. Definitely do not expect a queen-size bed—it’s smaller than a full and not ideal for two people. Keep that in mind. That said, they brought in a rollaway bed for my son, which made a huge difference and worked out well for us. The staff was incredibly friendly, sweet, and accommodating. We have some dietary restrictions, and I emailed the hotel ahead of time. They were fully prepared for us upon arrival and were amazing about meeting our needs. The location of the hotel is fantastic—right by the main area. It was so nice to be able to step outside and really experience Mexico, feel the city vibe, and not feel isolated like you sometimes do at large luxury resorts. You truly get the best of both worlds: luxury inside, real Mexico just steps away. One thing I do want to mention is the entertainment. At least the Caribbean show was definitely not family-friendly. I genuinely felt like I had accidentally taken my son to a strip club, which made me hesitant to bring him to any of the other shows afterward. That’s something the hotel could absolutely improve. Overall, we had a beautiful time. My son loved the kids’ program, and despite a few drawbacks, we would definitely come back again.

We have been to different Moon Palace resorts and Playacar Palace is among few of our top favorites so far. Its a boutique style resort in Playa del carmen and has so many positives about it. The service here is unmatched. The staff is so good and does everything possible to make your stay memorable. Whether its the staff at the restaurants, or the staff at the pool side, bar, kids day care or at the spa everyone gave their % and made sure we are having a good time and getting good service. The location of this resort is unmatched. As soon as we step out of the resort, we are at 5th Avenue which is filled with amazing shops , restaurants, a nice mall and ferry to Cozumel island is steps away as well. It felt like we are right in the center of all fun. Its so safe to step outside as its all touristy area and police presence is there in that area. Car rentals like Hertz were also steps away. So we were able to rent car and do certain excursions like cenotes ourselves. If you are planning to do cenote during the stay our favorite is Cenote Azul. We also did a day trip to Cozumel and visited Cozumel Palace through ferry which was also quite easy and fun. The restaurants at the resort were nice and the nightly entertainment was also good. Rooms were good size with jacuzzi and we had the perfect ocean view from room. The pool here was not as big as other moon palace resorts as well as not too deep to swim properly so that could be considered as a small negative. But we were still able to enjoy it fully. Again the swim up bar was great and the staff kept planning some activities at the pool as well. Hot tub was nice and everyone enjoyed it. Beach was really nice and to our surprise had no Sargassam when we visited. So we were pleasantly surprised with the nice Beach. Overall if you like boutique size resorts with amazing food and service, this could definitely be a place for you. Its perfect for couples as well as families that enjoy stepping out of the resort without worrying about safety as overall that whole Playa del carmen 5th Avenue area feels very safe and perfect for tourists. We will definitely be returning back again!!

It’s always a pleasure to stay at the Palace! Our favorite staff members are Perla at the pool bar. She is always attentive, quick, and ready to help! Perla makes our trip! We also greatly enjoy “Almond” with the entertainment department. She is always so full of energy and smiling and genuinely enjoys getting the guest involved. Oscar by the pool bar keeps our drinks full and always has a little show to put on. It’s really always such a wonderful experience.

We stayed here over Christmas break, and what makes this place wonderful is the staff. We travel often and have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts, but the service here is incomparable. Eduardo at the front desk was very welcoming, while Jesus enthusiastically helped us with learning about the resorts and the area. We did a bike tour with Erik ( Alejandro), and he exceeded all expectations, teaching us about the area and his culture with such passion. The breakfast buffet was fresh and plentiful, and Roberto would fill our coffee mugs as soon as we sat down, with a big, welcoming smile. The service at all restaurants was incredible, making up for the average food. I can't forget to mention the hotel lobby drinks, just delicious! I can't forget to thank Dulce for the most relaxing pedicure. Will definitely be back!

Stayed for 6 nights and 7 days , the resort is really nice and small compared to Riu or Ibrostar but the smaller resort was not an issue for us as it made it easier to move around with kids. The beach is basically non existent (feel free to look at the pics ) Location is great with downtown PDC in walking distance. Massage prices are right down stupid I. $700 USD for couples massage. You can walk out the resort and get a couples massage for under $100 USD. You also cannot use the sauna or steam room without purchasing spa services. The resort credits are a joke and honestly because of this I did not purchase there time share which is not a time share. I honestly would have but because of the nuances with the resort credit lead me to believe the elite membership would have similar stipulations in the contract. The food at the restaurant is great but the buffet is mediocre. All of the restaurants have an upcharge of something could be wine or lobster or ribeye steak. I paid extra for the lobster and it was cooked really well... The staff was great. My kids loved the play area and we even hired an external nanny service for $18 USD / hour . The entertainment was better than most other all inclusive resorts.

Our experience at Playacar Palace Resort was absolutely wonderful, from arrival to departure. Everything was perfect. The service from the entire hotel staff was exceptional — everyone was friendly, attentive, and very polite. The hotel itself is cozy, peaceful, and perfect for a family stay. The food is amazing (you can tell by the number of photos I added to this review ). The hotel is also extremely clean. The restaurant staff were lovely, especially Elvia, who was always kind, friendly, and took the time to talk with us. The MoMo restaurant, with its oriental cuisine, is simply divine. Abner, who served us both times we dined there, was very pleasant, friendly, and extremely polite. At the pool area, all the staff were always attentive, making sure we were well taken care of. Juliana, who served us for two days, was also incredibly kind and courteous — actually, everyone was amazing. A truly wonderful hotel — 10/10. We will definitely be back!
